The Universe is eternal

Although the characters used in the first line are \u201cHeaven and Earth\u201d, here they express the idea of totality, and it is not the \u201cnameable\u201d, qualified Principle, that is referred to here but to action that makes it eternal: it \u201cis\u201d in the transcendent sense since it is denied.<\/p>\n

The word \u201cretreating\u201d = not to put in front of himself. Reproducing in oneself the way of the Tao, the True Man advances, rises transcendentally, as the absolute individual, in so far as he does not make his human individuality the center (it can also be translated: not having person \u2014 inclinations of person \u2014 becomes person, he obtains a persona). Technical Taoist expressions: \u201cto drop the persona like a habit\u201d.<\/p>\n
