\n\u201cWow. That must have burned up a lot of bad karma.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should have. I got what seemed like a good position in a butterfly garden in Japan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom a toad to a bug. What was so good about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all I was quite lovely \u2026 bright colors and I flew with grace. Then I was totally protected from predators and had all the sweet nectar I could eat. And of course, the caretaker was this hot geisha girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh! I never realized that butterflies entertained such thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, kid. Put that topology book away. Haven\u2019t you ever heard of the Venus Butterfly G-spot massage<\/strong>?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course. It\u2019s a sure way to keep friends coming back for more. It\u2019s just that I never thought to do it with a real butterfly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAlas, sad to say, neither did the geisha girl.\u201d

\n\u201cYou seemed to have it all, except that one unfulfilled desire. What could go wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery so often, I\u2019d wake up and there would be a couple of us butterflies missing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds like that caused you some concern.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOne afternoon, I flew by the geisha girl\u2019s window. I saw her pinning some of my buddies to a board!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou seem to be getting agitated.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAgitated, my butt! I was terrified. I flew frantically hitting against the screen enclosure. I finally found an opening and flew out. Up and up, higher and higher until I reached total exhaustion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSounds serious. Where does a butterfly on the lam go?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe air was getting cooler and there were strange updrafts lifting me higher. I flapped as hard as I could, but was unable to escape. Unable to continue anymore, I spread my wings and allowed the currents to take me where they would.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope you floated safely to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNever made it. I got eaten up by a starling below the cloud line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened next?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time it was serious. The Lords of Karma called me in and prohibited another Earth incarnation. They said that all that flapping over Tokyo caused four hurricanes in a place called Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI see \u2026 It\u2019s called the Butterfly effect<\/a>. I think someone wrote a book about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
