INTPs are philosophical innovators, fascinated by logical analysis, systems, and design. They are preoccupied with theory, and search for the universal law behind everything they see. They want to understand the unifying themes of life, in all their complexity. INTPs are detached, analytical observers who can seem oblivious to the world around them because they are so deeply absorbed in thought. They spend much of their time in their own heads: exploring concepts, making connections, and seeking understanding of how things work. To the Logician, life is an ongoing inquiry into the mysteries of the universe.

INTJ – it seems I’m the Architect. Most of the description was quite right, but some characteristics of the architect I didn’t recognize in myself, perhaps because some of the questions were quite ambivalent; I could have chosen both extremities, depending on the situation and on what mood I am. What came to my mind from the term architect was that I loved drawing floor plans out of nothing when I was a child. I would absolutely love to be an actual architect, like designing whole cities after the tree of wyrd / life.
Another interesting note that had passed through my mind when examining MBTI was that its functions are based off of the Jungian functions of Sensing , Thinking , Feeling , and Intuition . These can , in a way , map out with what our Friend From Beyond the Grave spoke of in his meditation on The Fool where he explains how we can move from formal logic to moral logic and then “…lastly, intuitive penetration into the very essence of the subject.” In other words , Sensing [physical fact] , Thinking [formal logic] , Feeling [moral logic] , Intuition [intuition] .
Now , if we grant the innovation that myers and briggs proposed of ‘introversion’ and ‘extroversion’ and assuming that our Dear Friend preferred his intuition to be internal (introverted), then the MBTI system would dictate , if mapped out to this move from sense perception to intuition , would follow this path: extroverted sensing , introverted thinking , extroverted feeling , introverted intuition .
This pathing , if stacked by “superiority-inferiority” would yield: Ni , Fe , Ti , Se (the shorthand for the above mentioned functions) . This combination of functions is the DNA imprint of the so called “INFJ” Personality type which just so happens to be the personality type of Dante , Plato , and Jung (and , as some would contest , was also the physical component of the Lord’s human “personality” [not to be confused with His PERONSHOOD] i.e. just as He had a specific DNA makeup , so , too , did He have a specific personality type).
I have found that MBTI in combination with Enneagram is an almost eerily accurate description of how the stars influence but do not compel . The other rather eerie side effect is that predictions about people’s rest state behaviour including myself have become more and more accurate the more I understand the intricacies of the two systems .
I really got into the Russian version of this (socionics). It’s an interesting expansion on the idea with clusters of types that will naturally get along and hate each other, as well as the idea of your „dual“, the perfect mate for you. Generally it goes like that rigid logic types need extroverted feely types who complete them.
I got sick of it when I started justifying my likes dislikes around my own self diagnosed type, and so on.
INTJ in my case, has some interest, although evidently it is only a sample of certain material constants of the personality. Perhaps certain parallels can be seen between such types and spiritual castes.
Yes, James, you are correct. I did the Briggs years ago on a lark because a friend asked me to. I don’t need it to know who I am, but I am surprised at its accuracy. I don’t know if everyone has that experience.
MBTI is static, but the Enneagram does outline a path of development. Moreover, it requires self-knowledge, not some “objective” evaluation from the outside. I like the analogy to the etheric body. The trend today is to base types on physical characteristics like race, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.

The unfortunate thing about the popularisation of personality typing is that it is no longer being used as a tool for self growth but either as justification/glorification of infantile survival instincts or horoscoping . Nonetheless , there are actual interesting things to be learned from them . The myers briggs system is not as decisively important to Individuation as something as the Enneagram — MBTI is more analogous to figuring out whether you’re a right handed or left handed baseball player and allows you , in a material way , to assess your strength at the sport we know as adult life . MBTI , in a sense , belongs to the physical body whereas Enneagram belongs to the Etheric body .
